    Job Location: Milpitas, CA.


    Responsibilities:

    As a member of the development team, you will be responsible for testing, verifying and debugging all modules of the Kineto Client for the Unlicensed Mobile Access.  You will be a hands-on individual contributor with an opportunity to build a Client Test team in line with Client business unit growth.  You will have significant interaction with Client Software and System Engineers to insure robust and timely commercialization path.

    Work with software developers and systems engineers to define, design, develop, execute, and document test cases and implement and create automation environments.
    Extend standard UMA and 3GPP test specifications to provide robust verification of Kineto core client, extensions, new features, and enable greater test coverage for functionality that is not defined in standards based test specifications.
    Validate and document compliance of Kineto Client to all pertinent UMA, 3GPP and customer specific requirements based on Test Case execution and results. 
    Work closely with entire development team to identify and isolate failures and provide test support for fast debug cycles and regression testing at all phases of integration.
    Work closely with Kineto Customer Support team and Program Management team on timely Engineering Release in post acceptance phase to satisfy Customers release demand.
    Define final “QA” end-to-end tests to validate incremental releases on multiple target platforms.
    Define processes to measure/report QA performance and QC of Eng Releases.
    Work with third party Test Equipment vendors to extend internal automation capability.
     
    Requirements:
    BS/MS in EE/CS or equivalent
    5+ years in Systems test and development specifically related to Mobile Station handset testing in GSM/GPRS and/or UMTS.
    Experience with GSM, RR/RRC/MM, LLC protocol testing (11.10, 51.010, 31 series).
    Experience in definition and coding of test cases and analysis of layer 3 signaling.
    Understanding of network (TCP/IP) and security (IPSec) protocols and experience with end-to-end testing in IP environment highly desired.
    Strong general C/C++ skills and familiarity with TTCN and ASN.1 programming desired.  Ability to write custom software tools to assist in handset testing.
    802.11 knowledge a plus.
    Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear specifications and procedures are required.

    Responsibilities:

    Provides technical support to Kineto Client customers during acceptance test, interoperability test cycles, field test, and final test approvals.
    Works closely with Client Eng and QA team to follow through on resolution according to the priority assigned to the issues.
    This is a hands-on position that requires familiarity with a range of technology skills from real-time embedded systems to GSM/GPRS or related telecommunications.
    You will need to be an area expert and have a proven track record of working with Tier 1 Mobile Station Handset suppliers and OEM Partners.
    You will be able to articulate opinions on system problems and be able to debug field related issues.
    Strong project/customer account management skill/experience will be a great addition
     
    Requirements:
    Minimum of 5 years experience of telecommunications in a technical support role.
    Willingness to adopt and learn new technologies with high self-motivation
    Strong communication skills.  Need to be skilled in developing and maintaining key professional relationships especially in multi-cultural setting.
    Should have a basic understanding of Project/Customer Management Skill and need to be highly organized to handle large number of simultaneous activities in a very fast paced environment
    Good understanding of mobile cellular telecom systems and protocols: either GSM (preferred) or CDMA (acceptable). You will receive hands-on training to learn the UMA protocols and the Kineto Client implementation.
    Experience at the protocol level with GPRS/EDGE is desirable.
    Need to have good understanding of Internet domain: TCP/IP, routing, IPSec, DNS, and trace analysis using Ethereal.
    A good understanding of VoIP including signaling and media gateways is desirable.
    Familiar with embedded software development tools including compilers and linkers, and hardware and software debuggers. You should have a solid background in C programming and should be proficient in reading, and debugging code – the ability to modify code is highly desirable.
    Some experience with 802.11 is highly desired.
    Test equipment experience is necessary with: protocol analyzer/sniffer, (Tectronics, Ethereal), debuggers, and third party test equipment.
    Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (i.e., computer science, telecom, and engineering). Well qualified exceptions will be considered (i.e. decades of hands on experience or military telecom experience)
    Should have experience of using and maintaining customer issue tracking database (Teamtrack or ClearCase preferred)
     
    Travel:

    Many of Kineto’s customer integration and test activities are done in third party laboratories or live networks. This position may required off-site support – up to 2 weeks at a time and for a total of up to approximately 20% per year.
